Mövenpick Bangkok Sukhumvit 15 Review: A Quieter Base by Asok

A calm rooftop retreat close to the BTS, MRT and Terminal 21.

A calmer corner of Sukhumvit

I normally stay on Soi 11, so the Mövenpick on Soi 15 felt like a welcome change of pace. It was quieter, but still close enough to Asok and Terminal 21 to keep the city convenient. The hotel also had an electric shuttle to Terminal 21, which saved me the short walk in the heat.

My room and the rooftop

I was upgraded to a Deluxe Room. The decor had dark wood and a modern Thai-colonial feel; I liked it more than I expected from the online photos. The room had a proper bathtub, separate shower, a useful suitcase area, a small table and a comfortable bed. The view was not the highlight, and I kept the privacy curtain closed, but the room felt good for the price I paid at the time.

The connected rooftop spaces were the feature I remembered most: greenery, walkways between the two buildings, a small pool and quiet places to sit. The gym was not huge, but it had free weights and enough room for a normal workout. I looked into the Executive Lounge but did not use it, so I cannot review its food or service.

Breakfast and my verdict

Breakfast was above average for me, with a decent range and a noodle station where I could build a spicy bowl. It was not the most impressive buffet in Bangkok, but I was happy with it. I would pick this hotel when I wanted a calmer base near Asok with a rooftop pool and a little breathing room from Soi 11. If nightlife right outside the door was the point of my trip, I would choose Soi 11 instead.
