Mercure Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 Review: My Repeat Stay for Value

A high-floor room, a quiet lounge and one of my favourite Bangkok breakfast noodle carts.

Why I keep coming back

Mercure Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 became my repeat pick in Bangkok. It is right on Soi 11, close to the restaurants, bars and nightlife I enjoy, and the room surprised me because the online photos had made it look less appealing than it felt in person. On the stay in my video, I was upgraded to a Deluxe Room and had access to the Privilege Club lounge. The lounge felt like a quiet little escape from the street below, and the staff there were lovely.

Room, pool and breakfast

I stayed on a high floor facing the busy side of Soi 11. I am a heavy sleeper and was not bothered, though I could faintly hear bass with the air-conditioning off. If I were sensitive to noise, I would ask for a room away from the street. The pool and gym were better than I expected for a hotel in such a crowded location. Breakfast was solid rather than spectacular; the noodle cart outside became my favourite part.

My verdict

For me, the combination of location, comfort, friendly staff and value makes this one of the easiest Bangkok hotels to recommend when I want nightlife nearby. It is not the quietest base, and the exact price and lounge benefits vary by date, room and membership. I have stayed more than once because it suits how I like to spend time in Bangkok.
