A spacious apartment-style room with a kitchen and laundry, best suited to a longer stay.
A large apartment in a quiet corner
I booked an apartment at the Grand Mercure Bangkok Asoke Residence and was upgraded to an even larger one. The living room had space for a family, and I liked having a balcony, a kitchen with a hob and microwave, a full-size fridge and a washing machine. Those practical extras would matter much more to me on a longer visit than they did on my one-night stay.
What felt dated
The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well, but the furniture and bathroom looked older than the room size suggested. The lobby was simple, and the area around the hotel felt quiet. I found it roughly a ten-minute walk to Asok station and Terminal 21, which was close enough for me but less immediate than staying right on the main road.
My verdict
I would consider this residence if I needed space, a kitchen and laundry at a reasonable rate, especially for a longer Bangkok stay. For one night of sightseeing, I would rather pay a similar amount for a more central room and skip the apartment space I would not use. This reflects the room I saw in my video, including an upgrade; current furnishings and rates may differ.
