Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit Review: Club Lounge and City Comfort

A polished, central stay that I would choose when calm and service matter more than price.

My first impression

I arrived at the Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit in time for Club Millésime afternoon tea, and that was a memorable introduction. The staff made me feel welcome from the first conversation, and the lounge food was excellent. Lounge access was part of my stay; it is not something I would assume comes with every room, so I would check the booking details.

The room and Club Millésime

The room felt polished and generous, with a very comfortable bed, a large marble bathroom, a deep bathtub and a city view. I liked the tablet controls, although I still needed help learning how the room worked. The lounge gave me a choice of afternoon tea, evening drinks and small dishes, with friendly staff who made the experience feel personal. Breakfast had plenty to choose from; I especially enjoyed the noodles, eggs Benedict and the spicy options.

Pool, gym and location

The pool felt calm and tropical, and the gym was large enough for the workout I wanted. I found both Nana and Asok BTS stations about a seven-minute walk away. I never personally found the skybridge, so I would plan on walking along the street. The hotel sits close to the street food and nightlife on Sukhumvit, while still feeling composed once I was back inside.

My verdict

I would choose the Sofitel when I wanted a more refined, peaceful stay and valued the room, service and lounge. If I were travelling with friends mainly to party and wanted better value, I would spend less at the Mercure down the road. For me, they serve different moods even though they are close together.
