Hilton Tokyo Shinjuku Review: Rooms, Lounge and Getting Around

Hilton Tokyo Shinjuku has a lot of facilities and room choices, but it can feel busy and the price often makes me think twice. I’d choose it when I specifically want to stay in Shinjuku or can use points for a good redemption.

ROOMS

I toured three room types during my stay. My Hilton Diamond status got me an early check-in and an upgrade to a Twin Junior Executive Suite. It was spacious, with twin beds, wood furnishings, a seating area and a large bath. I also looked at a standard King room with a renovated bathroom, and a high-floor Classic King room with an older bathroom and city and park views. My room was an upgrade, so the suite isn’t what I’d expect with every booking.

BREAKFAST AND EXECUTIVE LOUNGE

The main breakfast buffet had plenty of choice, including made-to-order eggs, a noodle station and a DIY bagel station. The Executive Lounge on the upper floor was another strong point: I found the evening spread substantial, and I liked the quieter lounge breakfast with dishes such as omurice and Eggs Royale. I also used the pool and gym.

GETTING AROUND

The hotel provides a free shuttle to Shinjuku Station and airport limousine buses. I could also reach Nishi-Shinjuku station through the underground route, although it’s a long walk through the passages rather than a quick step onto a train. The lobby and surrounding area were busy during my visit.

MY VERDICT

I liked the range of facilities and the lounge, but the high cash rate can make it difficult for me to recommend on price alone. I’d want a good points stay or a clear reason to base myself in Shinjuku. When I wanted more room and felt I was getting better value, I preferred Hilton Tokyo Odaiba. Room condition, lounge access and benefits depend on the booking and can change.
