The name changed, but during my return stay the familiar team and much of the hotel remained.
Back to the same hotel under a new name
I first filmed this building when it was the Pullman Grande Asoke, then returned after it had become Hilton Bangkok Grande Asoke. At the time of my follow-up, the people and the hotel felt much the same; the biggest visible difference was the Hilton branding. I did not see a major room renovation in my stay, so I would not book expecting a completely new interior just because the name changed.
The room and the upgrade
I was offered a suite upgrade as a Hilton Diamond member, but it had a king bed when I needed twin beds. I chose a twin room instead. The suite was spacious and attractive, and I would have kept it if I had been travelling as a couple, but having separate beds mattered more on that trip. In the room I used, I had a kettle and instant coffee rather than the Nespresso setup I had seen in some suites. Breakfast was good, and the staff were familiar and welcoming from my earlier Pullman visit.
My verdict
I would consider Hilton Bangkok Grande Asoke when the location, Hilton benefits and price line up. It is convenient for the Asok area, and my experience after the rebrand was still positive. I would confirm the current room condition and the bed setup before accepting an upgrade. The building, rooms and benefits may have changed since I filmed.
