I’ve stayed at Conrad Osaka on several trips, and it remains my favourite hotel in Japan. I love the high-floor setting, polished service and sense of calm above the city. For me, it is an experience in its own right, although the price means it is not the right choice for every Osaka trip.
LOCATION AND ARRIVAL
I arrive through the dramatic sky lobby on the 40th floor. The hotel is directly connected to Higobashi subway station, which gives me useful rail access, although I am not right in the middle of Namba or beside Osaka Station. Diamond and Executive Club check-in takes place on the 39th floor.
THE ROOM
I’ve found the rooms spacious, quiet and beautifully positioned for wide city views. Even the entry-level rooms are around 55 square metres, with a separate sitting area. The room, the view and the polished service have made my stays feel special rather than simply giving me a place to sleep.
THE EXECUTIVE LOUNGE
When I had lounge access, I enjoyed afternoon tea from 3 to 5pm, followed by evening canapés and drinks. The food and drink selection changes by service. If lounge access is part of the value for you, I would include it when comparing rates and check what your booking actually includes.
MY VERDICT
I would choose Conrad Osaka for a special trip when room space, views, service and time at the hotel matter as much as location. It can be expensive, especially if I plan to spend most of the day out exploring. On one three-night stay, I redeemed 95,000 Hilton points per night; that was my past redemption, not a guide to current availability or value. If I wanted direct access to Osaka Station, a lower rate or a more casual atmosphere, I would compare Hilton Osaka, Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda and Waldorf Astoria Osaka in my Osaka hotel comparison.
